Professor Hyokeun Park obtained his BA (2000) and MS (2002) degrees from the Seoul National University in Korea and his PhD (2006) degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States. He worked as a post-doctoral research associate at Stanford University. He joined the Department of Physics and Division of Life Science of HKUST in 2014.
Professor Park’s main research interests focus on the development of new single-molecule fluorescence imaging techniques and their application to address biological questions. In particular, he is interested in developing new fluorescence imaging techniques to measure the location accurately and observe the interaction between proteins simultaneously. He also investigates how the synaptic transmission and transport of vesicles and organelles are disrupted in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases. |
