2023 Summer Research Camp for 2024-25 Fall Admission (5 days)

Date: July 3-7, 2023 (5 days)

Target: prospective students of PhD/MPhil in Physics Program for 2024-25 Fall Admission

Fee: On-campus student hostel (2-3 person per room) will be provided. Participants will receive food subsidy in the means of meal coupons. Participants are responsible for round-trip travel expenses including but not limited to visa application fee and travel insurance.

Admission Requirements for PhD/MPhil in Physics Program:

outstanding academic performance from a recognized institution; should have obtained a relevant bachelor’s degree or master's degree from a recognized institution
fulfill the University's English Language requirements, i.e. provide proof of obtained TOEFL (iBT: 80) or IELTS (Academic Module Overall score: 6.5) (Note: submission of official result is not required when apply)
successfully pass on-site written test and interview

(Important Notes: Applicants are strongly recommended to approach potential faculty supervisors in the department prior to submitting applications. Applicants with recommendation from potential faculty supervisors will have a higher chance in getting acceptance for 2023 Summer Research Camp)

Scholarship

Successful applicant will receive Postgraduate Studentship of HK$18,030 (listed amount is applicable for 2022-23 cohort) per month.
Outstanding applicants will be nominated to apply for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (http://www.rgc.edu.hk/hkphd). Successful awardee will receive stipend of HK$27,100 per month and travel allowance of HK$13,600 per year from the scheme and may receive additional HK$40,000 of "Redbird Scholarship" in the first year of study (listed amount is applicable for 2022-23 cohort) (https://pg.ust.hk/prospective-students/scholarship-fees/generous-scholarships).

2023 Summer Research Program (5 weeks)

The Summer Research Program targets for outstanding Year-3 undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing research postgraduate study. The program allows participants to have close-up experience in conducting research with postgraduate students and research staff, under the supervision of faculty supervisors. Applicants should approach potential physics faculty members and obtain their agreement as the hosting faculty before submitting applicatons.

Date: 3 July – 4 August, 2023 (5 weeks)

Target: Year-3 undergraduate students of a 4-year bachelor program majoring in science and related discipline, and have attained a GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0 (or 80%) or higher.

Fee: Successful applicants will be automatically enrolled in the 5-day Summer Research Camp (3-7 July 2023). Participants must apply for Undergraduate (UG) Visiting Internship via the online admission system [https://join.hkust.edu.hk/admissions/visiting] by the specific deadline (to be announced). Participants will be responsible for application fee and tuition fee for UG Visiting Internship, student visa fee, round-trip travel expense, travel insurance and other travel related expenses.

香港科技大學2023年物理夏令營

（物理專業博士／碩士2024年秋季入學提前招生）

香港科技大學是香港地區最年輕和最有活力的大學，是世界上發展最快的大學，並已經成為亞洲最好的國際知名研究型大學之一，其研究涵蓋大部分物理學及材料物理科學前沿領域，包括：實驗與理論凝聚態物理、粒子物理和宇宙學、量子計算、原子分子光學物理、半導體物理、納米技術、先進材料科學、超材料、統計與計算物理、人工智慧和大數據建模、軟物質和復雜系統物理、生物物理、化學物理等。研究領域詳情見https://physics.ust.hk/。

夏令營目的：介紹研究方向，學生互動交流，物理前沿講座，物理摸底考試及入學面試（今年的夏令營完全通過線下進行）。表現優異的同學將在夏令營結束時獲得錄取。

日期：2023年7月3-7日

對象：報讀物理博士/碩士2023年秋季入學的申請人

費用：學校提供大學宿舍免費住宿和餐飲補貼。參加者自行負擔來往旅費、旅游保險、簽證費等。

香港科技大學理學院2023暑期研究實習計劃

此計劃旨在為有興趣於香港科技大學就讀研究生課程並已完成三年的本科生透過與本校理學院導師共同進行為期五星期的研究項目體驗研究生生活。由於物理夏令營及暑期研究實習計劃活動時間會在首星期重疊，欲參加物理夏令營及暑期研究實習計劃的參加者必需先獲得本校物理系導師同意作為主辦方導師。

日期：2023年7月3日 - 8月4日

參加條件：主修科學及相關課程的本科生，已完成 3 年（4 年制學士學位課程）的學習，並且 GPA 達到 3.2（滿分 4.0）（或 80%）或更高。

費用：成功獲邀參加本實習計劃之參加者將自動獲選參與夏令營（五天，2023年7月3-7日）。參加者需在指定日期（確實日期稍後通知）前透過網上系統[https://join.hkust.edu.hk/admissions/visiting]遞交本科實習申請（Undergraduate (UG) Visiting Internship ）。參加者需自行負擔申請費用、實習學費、來往旅費、旅游保險、簽證費等。
