The Department of Physics invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level.  Ranks at Associate Professor or above will also be considered for candidates with exceptional record of research excellence and academic leadership.  Applicants must possess a PhD degree in physics or related fields and have evidence of strong research productivity. 

We seek strong experimental candidates in soft condensed matter physics (including biophysics) and hard condensed matter physics (including low dimensional materials, materials with strong electronic correlations, and novel wave functional materials).  Candidates with outstanding record in experimental atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physics are also encouraged to apply.  Coupled with the School of Science’s faculty cluster hire in Data Analytics for Biological and Physical Sciences, we also seek theorists in statistical mechanics and data science. 

Appointees are expected to assume teaching responsibilities for undergraduate and graduate courses, and to conduct vigorous research programs.  Further information about the Department is available at http://physics.ust.hk   

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including medical and dental benefits, annual leave and housing will be provided where applicable.  Initial appointment will normally be on a three-year contract.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.

The Department of Physics invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level in both theoretical and experimental physics, with specialty in any area of particle physics, cosmology, or string theory.  Appointments at the rank of Associate Professor or above will be considered for candidates with an exceptional record of research excellence and academic leadership.  The current faculty at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in particle physics and cosmology include Professor Andy Cohen, Professor George Smoot, Professor Henry Tye, Dr Tao Liu, and Dr Yi Wang.  The department is growing its effort in particle physics and cosmology by hiring five new faculty in theory and experiment.  Further information about the Department can be found at http://physics.ust.hk
 
Applicants must possess a PhD degree in physics or a related field.  The successful candidates should have a strong track record of research in high energy physics and/or cosmology.  In addition to pursuing a vibrant research program, the candidates are expected to engage in effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
